Where it all started
Some of my earliest childhood memories would be going to work with my Dad Gerry, he started the company back in 1965, a long time ago ! While he would disappear into his office for most of the day I would make a bee line for the workshops or to the compound where the old part exchange cars were stored, I’d spend hours climbing in and out of 1960 VW Beetles, Karman Ghia’s, Hillman Minx’s, Vauxhall Victors or Singer Gazelles if only I’d realised how collectible some of them would have been now !!
Rapid business expansion
In the early 1970’s my Dad’s businesses expanded rapidly through South Wales, opening new dealerships in Hirwaun, Swansea and Haverfordwest acquiring Volkswagen, Audi, NSU, and Renault dealerships together with a Honda Motorcycle garage, where I’d spend most of my school holidays or any spare time.
Passion for cars and engines
Cars and engines must have been in my genes as my dad loved his Jenson Interceptors with their massive V8 Chrysler engines he also had a passion for anything with a engine, he loved racing his boat a Fairy Swordsman with twin Ford Mermaid engines or flying, he owned and learned to fly a Hughes 500 Helicopter with a Rolls Royce Alison Jet engine, even now the sound of a Turbine engine starting sends a shiver down my back.
High quality cars
My Dad was tragically killed in 1976 thereafter the businesses consolidated through the late 70’s. In 1981 at a very young age of 21 and fresh out of a tool maker apprenticeship in a local factory, Heliwells in Robertstown I took over the running of our business in Cwmbach, our ethos then was to concentrate on selling high quality low mileage cars together with exceptional after sales, something that through the years has never faltered.
In 1985 we reacquired the Renault Franchise and in 2007 took over my Cousin Walter Wilson (Wally) Official Toyota Service Outlet further down the road from our original premises, Wally wanted to retire so we continued doing what he did best selling high quality low mileage cars.
Our unfading enthusiasm
I buy the majority of our cars, traveling all over the country looking for them, I must say it’s something I really enjoy, I’m extremely fussy in what we purchase, we literally chase beautiful well maintained looked after cars, both of my salesman Ryan & Ian along with myself can’t wait for the transporters to arrive with our new stock, rain or shine we’re outside straight away going through them, the excitement never fades.
All our cars are prepared to exacting standards, before being offered for sale, each car is thoroughly inspected by our Toyota workshops where they are serviced to Toyota’s standards, each vehicle is supplied with a free 3 month guarantee, which can be extended to a year for an extra £200.00 in most cases, you just cannot beat our after sales !
We operate a no pressure sales environment, all of our cars can be viewed in our beautiful heated showroom, and we look to sell you not only this car but the next one too. Many of our customers have been dealing with us for over 35 years and have become our friends who we enjoy seeing, oh and I almost forgot, we offer and can make a mean Cappuccino coffee !!
